Alternative Service Weekend- Habitat for Humanity Build in Comanesti, Romania.

Are you interested in working with Habitat for Humanity's Global Village Program to build homes for deserving families over your long weekend?  If so, please apply here. After you apply you will be contacted for an in person or Skype interview.  Ten students will be selected to be a part of the inaugural group of home builders.

What to expect?

We will fly from London to Bucharest, Romania, where we will meet Habitat for Humanity's Portugal Program Leader.  We will go by bus from Bucharest to Comanesti in the north of Romania.  We will spend Thursday, Friday and Saturday working from 7am to 5pm building a home for a deserving partner family.  You will be asked to do physically demanding work including carrying items, mixing cement, bricking homes, digging, cleaning, and other not so glamourous tasks as we build.  This trip is not for the faint of heart.   In the evenings we will have team dinners and spend time reflecting on our experience.

To participate you will enroll in a one hour course that will meet in the evenings the week before the build.  You will be required to write two reflection papers.

You will also fundraise or pay $400 to participate.  If selected you will be given all of the information you need and help in doing this fundraising.

This opportunity will be one of the most challenging and most rewarding of your college career!
