International Cultural Immersion Experience: Trinidad & Tobago
EDUC 385: Multicultural Understanding
Dates: May 25th-June 8th, 2017 (to be confirmed March 1)
The goal of this program is to provide an intensive cross-cultural immersion experience that will help students develop the multicultural competencies necessary to work effectively with individuals of different races, cultures, and ethnicities. To achieve this goal, students will stay with host families, participate in cultural activities and work together with a Trinidadian mentor.
EDUC 385: Multicultural Understanding (3 credits)
NC Abroad: International Cultural Immersion Experience (not-for-credit)**
**This option is only available to students who have previously taken EDUC 385 and UE alumni who are also alumni of the program, and requires prior approval from program leader and the Office of Study Abroad. Those not enrolled for credit will still be expected to participate in all activities but will not earn credit hours.
While on the island of Trinidad, participants will stay in the homes of selected hosts in the neighborhood called Dalley Village. While on the Island of Tobago, students will stay in groups at a hotel.
Comprehensive fee: $3925 for those taking EDUC 385
This fee includes the following: tuition (three credits), registration and technology fees, on-site travel expenses, meals, lodging, entrance fees).
**The fee does not include round-trip airfare.**
