Immunology Short Course at Harlaxton College

Program Overview
This program offers a unique opportunity to take an undergraduate level course in immunology at Harlaxton College. Harlaxton is the study abroad center of the University of Evansville and is located in Grantham, England, about an hour north of London. The program is open to students from across the United States and is co-sponsored by Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity. Dr. Carla Aldrich, a visiting faculty member from Indiana University School of Medicine, will be the course instructor and group leader. The class is a brief overview of the immune system, with a focus on the role of the Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) in directing immune responses and covers topics that are relevant to students interested in applying to medical school or other health sciences professions.

Program Details
How to Apply
Interested students should click on the "Apply Now" button above and create an account with their email address to start an application through the myHarlaxton/myUEabroad system. The application for this program will include a statement of interest and a $25 application fee. Applications will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis, after which students will be required to complete various other materials to prepare for their time abroad.
The deadline to apply for this program is March 1, 2022.
Coursework
The class offered on this program will be 2 credits of BIO 399: Special Topics in Biology from the University of Evansville. Once accepted onto this program, students will receive information on how they will register and receive a transcript for this course. Cost
The program fee is $3100. This includes the 2 credit hours of tuition, room and board at Harlaxton College for the duration of the program, airport pickup and drop-off, and an excursion to London. Airfare and meals on excursions are not included.
Students will be required to pay a $250 deposit by April 1, 2022 to confirm their place on the program. The remainder of the program fee will be billed after course registration in April and will be due by June 1, 2022.
Logistics
Students will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the United Kingdom for this program. They will be expected to arrive in Heathrow Airport by 10:30am on the designated program start date to meet Dr. Aldrich, the group leader, and Harlaxton staff and take a coach to Harlaxton College.
There will be class time each weekday at Harlaxton, which will take the form of lectures, case studies, and group work. There will be excursions as permitted by UK COVID guidelines; more information about this can be found here:

For departure, the group will be transported back to Heathrow Airport on the designated program end date and will be responsible for their own return to the US or for onward travel.
